The Dell Xps Laptop For High End Gaming

Think games. Think laptop. Think Dell. The culmination of the three will probably lead you to the Dell XPS laptop. This latest installment from well known system developers Dell, literally redefines the term 'high-end laptop'. This article hints at why exactly the Dell XPS laptop is so and also points out what avid gamers might like in it.

Dell introduced their new Inspiron XPS as a 'true desktop replacement notebook'. And here is why they were right on the mark. The Dell XPS laptop features high performance Pentium 4 processors with Hyper-threading technology. It also comes with a sleek 15.4" (this varies according to the type) TruLife display. 2 GB of DDR400 Ram in an i865PE motherboard is also an enticing aspect. Other specifications include a Dual Layer DVD +/- RW and networking facilities. The system also provides full USB capabilities with five USB ports. Also present is an external TV tuner. As for gamers, the Dell XPS laptop comes equipped with the state of the art graphics assets from well known companies such as nVidia. Some graphic cards such as the GeForce Go 7800GTX and others belonging to the same capability category have already proved to work well with the Dell XPS laptop. As for the sound, who can ask for more when the system incorporates a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS soundcard? One more reason for customers to rejoice is the introduction of the Lo-Jack security standard that provides laptop theft protection and recovery and is available with the Dell XPS laptop.

The Dell XPS laptop series has three versions namely, the M1210, the M1710 and the M2010. At 4.4 lbs, this is easily Dell's lightweight competitor in the market. Other perks in this version are internal antennae to enhance mobile and wireless broadband and an integrated web camera. The next variation in the Dell XPS laptop series is the M1710. With cutting edge graphics, this is one laptop that will be synonymous with high end entertainment. It has a 17" TruLife widescreen that also allows variations in lighting to suit the user's needs. The final version is the M2010 with a stunning 20" screen with TruLife display. Also included is a remote control.

The Dell XPS laptop is designed to run almost each and every graphics-heavy application without slowing down and at the same time is highly portable. Although one might primarily call it a gaming system, on a higher level of generalization and or abstraction, it can be considered as the next generation in high end computing systems. Luxury entertainment and applications in the same category will find obvious ease with the Dell XPS laptop. The major nitpicking one would have with the Dell XPS laptop is obviously the price. Prices vary from $999 for the M1210 version to as high as $2999 for other versions like the M1710 and the M2010. But customer feedback reveals that the majority feel that it was money well spent. Will this juggernaut from Dell, the XPS laptop stay with among the top of systems that have been designed specifically for high end computing? Only time can tell…
